The importance of effective communication in clinical practice has been highlighted in several reports. Medical Council of India (MCI) in its vision 2015 document recommended early integration of communication skills training into medical curriculum. This course has been established by GLOCAL Academy (UK) in collaboration with GVK EMRI, India to enhance doctor abilities to deal with various aspects of advanced communications.

The contents of the course has sound research evidence base by GVK EMRI & GLOCAL Academy (UK) and is delivered by faculty who are expert trainers from United Kingdom and India. Teaching techniques such as interactive small group exercises and role-plays form part of democratic, collaborative and participative learning environment. Participants will have hands on opportunity to practice skills and receive constructive feedback in a safe and supportive environment.

To limit the number of registrants for a course, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrolment; therefore, early registration is advised. Dr Srikanth Mada

Dr Srikanth Mada, MRCP UK (Member of the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom)., MRCP Endo (Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, Endocrinology)., FRCP (Edin)(Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh)., CCT G (I) M (Certificate of Completion of Training General Internal Medicine)., PG Cert Medical Education (Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education)

He works as a Consultant Endocrinologist at University hospital of North Durham (CDDFT). He has special interest in transitional medicine, renal diabetes and diabetic foot disease. He is the education speciality lead for higher speciality training (endocrinology) for the trust and also lead for implementing IT solutions for the diabetes directorate.

He has special interest in education and training and he is the Royal College Tutor for medicine and Foundation Programme tutor for the trust. As a faculty has active role in Health Education North east of England. He also leads on developing safe handover tools to improve patients care and training the trainers in the trust. He is accredited as trainer and hold’s post graduate degree in medical education from Dundee University

Dr Krishnakanth Naineni

Dr Krishnakanth Naineni , MRCGP (Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners)., PG Cert Medical Education (Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education)., Member of Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE)., GP (General Practitioner)

He works as a General Practitioner (GP) in a busy general practice in the south-east region of England. He has been a Member of Royal College of General Practitioners since 2011 and a faculty at The Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He is one of the education leads supervising the medical students training in General practice and teach them communication and consultation skills using innovative teaching techniques. He enjoys being a ‘generalist’ but have special interest in communication skills and medical education. He holds Post graduate Certification in Medical Education and is working towards getting a Master’s degree. His particular interests are communication skills, health promotion, long term conditions management, work-based learning and small group teaching.

National Faculty

Dr G.V. Ramana Rao, MBBS., MD., DPH., PGDGM

Dr Ramana Rao is Director of Emergency Medicine Learning Center and Research at “108” GVK Emergency Management Research Institute, Hyderabad, India (www.emri.in)

He carries three decades of experience as Public Health Expert and Master Trainer.

Dr Rao has completed MD with Community Medicine from Osmania Medical College. He is also a post-graduate diploma holder in Public Health and Geriatric Medicine.

Dr Ramana Rao is in-charge for International Training Center at GVK EMRI which organizes global certification programs of cardiac, trauma and obstetric life support skills (AHA/ ACEP and AAFP- BLS, ACLS, PALS, ITLS, BLSO/ ALSO). He is Chief Editor of Indian Emergency Journal. Dr Rao has authored over 50 national and international publications and has been an invited speaker in over 15 international conferences and many a national conferences. Dr Ramana Rao underwent specialized training in London (LSE and LSH), Bangkok, Singapore and USA.

He is a member of National Ambulance Code Committee and member of Committee on National Guidelines for pre-hospital Trauma Care formed by Government of India. He was actively involved with curriculum Approval Committee of Health Sector Skills Council for Emergency Medical Technician and development of guidelines of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Mass Medical Events. Dr Ramana Rao is recipient of Society of Emergency Medicine (SEMI) Excellence Award 2014 for his contributions to Emergency Medical Services.

He organized specialized Reproductive and Child Health training in India and Bangkok with the support of World Health Organization. He is a member of Advisory Council of Indian Confederation of Healthcare Accreditation. (www.icha.org).

Dr Usha Saie, MBBS., MD in Hospital Administration

Dr. Usha Saie has an experience of above 14 years in Health Care Administration. She has been working in EMLC (Emergency Medicine Learning Centre) Department of GVK EMRI since 2 years. She takes care of the administrative aspects of training centre across the GVK operated States in the country.

Apart from being an Administrator of the Emergency Medicine Learning Centre, she also takes part in active teaching of soft skills and is an Instructor for BLS, ITLS, BLSO and other training programs offered by GVK EMRI.

Dr Shashikanth, MBBS., PGDHA (Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Administration)

Dr Shashikanth works as a specialist for 104 services and MMU services in GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute since 2 years. Prior to this he had 5 years of experience in Health care industry.

He has designed a unique model – ‘Service Escalation Matrix’ for addressing and resolving the grievances for the health department of Government of Tamil Nadu. He also developed Medical Decision Support system for the Health Help Line Call centres.

Dr Shashikanth is having the experience of training more than 300 of doctors and 800 of paramedics for 104 Health Helpline, Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), Mother and Child Tracking Facilitation Centre (MCTFC) & Community based paramedic Training.

His special interest is to study & research in the community health and design models which show alternatives for the doctor – patient ratio in India with the help of Cutting – Edge Technology. He strongly believes that soft skills and clinical skills are equally important for the health care professionals in India.

His special interest is to study & research in the community health and design concepts to make health care services available in undeserved areas with the help of Cutting – Edge Technology.

Cancelled registrations are non-transferable. GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course due to unforeseen circumstances.
